Net Worth Calculator

Calculate your estimated net worth by adding assets and subtracting liabilities.

$

Assets

Add cash, savings, investments, property value, vehicles, business value, and other owned assets.

Liabilities

Add mortgages, loans, credit card balances, student loans, unpaid bills, and other debts.

Use this Net Worth Calculator to estimate your financial position by adding the value of your assets and subtracting your liabilities. You can also compare the result with an optional net worth target.

Net Worth Calculation Method

Total assets = sum of all assets entered

Total liabilities = sum of all debts and obligations entered

Net worth = total assets − total liabilities

The calculator also estimates:

Debt-to-asset ratio = total liabilities ÷ total assets × 100

If a target is entered:

Target gap = target net worth − current net worth

A positive net worth means your assets are worth more than your liabilities. A negative net worth means your liabilities are greater than your assets.

Example

Suppose you have:

  • Cash and savings: $12,000
  • Investments: $45,000
  • Home value: $250,000
  • Vehicle value: $15,000

Total assets = $322,000

Your liabilities are:

  • Mortgage: $180,000
  • Car loan: $8,000
  • Credit card debt: $3,000

Total liabilities = $191,000

Net worth = $322,000 − $191,000 = $131,000

Debt-to-asset ratio = ($191,000 ÷ $322,000) × 100 ≈ 59.32%

The estimated net worth is $131,000.

Important Notes

  • Use current realistic values for assets rather than original purchase prices.
  • For property, vehicles, businesses, collectibles, and similar assets, estimated resale or market value may be more useful than replacement value.
  • Use current outstanding debt balances rather than only monthly minimum payments.
  • Investment values, property prices, business valuations, and debt balances can change over time.
  • Taxes, selling costs, transaction fees, ownership shares, and early repayment charges are not automatically included.
  • The currency selector changes the displayed currency symbol only; it does not convert exchange rates.
  • Net worth is a financial snapshot and does not by itself measure income, cash flow, investment performance, or financial security.
