Body Shape Calculator
Enter your bust, waist, high hip and hip measurements to estimate your body shape and waist–hip ratio.
Measurements
Use the same side of the body for all measurements. Units can be in or cm.
Results
Classification is based on published 7-type body shape rules. Results are approximate and for informational purposes only.
Important Note : Your result is a closest-match style category; many people fit between shapes.
Use this Body Shape Calculator to estimate your body type from your bust, waist, high hip, and hip measurements. It gives a best-fit body shape result plus useful proportion details, making it helpful for clothing, styling, and fit guidance.

What This Body Shape Calculator Calculates
This calculator estimates:
- Estimated body shape
- Waist-to-hip ratio (WHR)
- Bust-to-hip difference
- Hip-to-bust difference
- Bust-to-waist difference
- Hip-to-waist difference
It uses these four measurements:
- Bust
- Waist
- High hip
- Hip
How the Body Shape Calculator Works
This page compares your upper-body, waist, and lower-body proportions to estimate which common body-shape category you most closely match.
Instead of using weight or clothing size, it looks at the relationship between your key circumference measurements. That makes it more useful for styling than simple size labels alone.
The calculator also reports waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) and several direct measurement differences so you can see why a certain shape was chosen.
Why Body Shape Is Based on Proportions
Body shape is usually determined by relative proportions, not by one single measurement.
For example:
- if bust and hips are close but the waist is much smaller, the shape may lean toward hourglass
- if hips are noticeably larger than bust, the shape may lean toward pear/triangle
- if bust and hips are both close to the waist, the shape may lean toward rectangle
This is why body-shape tools compare multiple measurements together rather than treating any one measurement as decisive.
Assumptions and Important Notes
- This calculator gives an approximate best-fit result, not a medical or anatomical diagnosis.
- Many people naturally sit between two body-shape categories.
- Small tape-measure differences can change the detected shape.
- All measurements should be taken on the same side of the body and in the same unit system.
- This tool is most useful for styling and clothing guidance, not health assessment.
Worked Example
Suppose someone enters:
- Bust: 36 in
- Waist: 28 in
- High hip: 35 in
- Hip: 38 in
Step 1: Compare bust and hips
The hip is slightly larger than the bust.
Step 2: Compare waist with bust and hips
The waist is clearly smaller than both.
Step 3: Check proportion differences
The calculator uses those differences and the WHR to estimate the closest body-shape category.
Step 4: Return the best-fit result
Depending on the exact threshold rules, this example may lean toward an hourglass-adjacent or pear-adjacent shape.
How to Use This Body Shape Calculator
- Measure your bust at the fullest part.
- Measure your waist at the narrowest natural point.
- Measure your high hip above the fullest hip area.
- Measure your hip around the fullest part of the hips and seat.
- Enter all measurements in the same unit.
- Review your estimated body shape and supporting proportion results.
How to Interpret the Result
Estimated body shape is your closest style-category match.
WHR shows how your waist compares with your hips.
Measurement differences help explain whether your shape is more balanced, waist-defined, top-heavy, or bottom-heavy.
If your result feels close to two shapes, that usually means your measurements are balanced between categories rather than the calculator being wrong.
Practical Uses of a Body Shape Calculator
- understand your body proportions better
- shop for clothing with more confidence
- choose cuts and silhouettes that match your shape
- compare bust, waist, and hip balance more objectively
