Body Shape Calculator
Enter your bust, waist, high hip and hip measurements to estimate your body shape and waist–hip ratio.
Measurements
Use the same side of the body for all measurements. Units can be in or cm.
Results
Classification is based on published 7-type body shape rules. Results are approximate and for informational purposes only.
Use this Body Shape Calculator to estimate your closest body-shape category from your bust, waist, high-hip, and hip measurements.
Body Shape Calculation Method
The calculator compares your body proportions rather than your overall size.
Waist-to-hip ratio = waist ÷ hip
It also compares:
- Bust − hip
- Hip − bust
- Bust − waist
- Hip − waist
- High-hip proportion
These measurements are compared with the calculator’s seven body-shape patterns, including hourglass, top hourglass, bottom hourglass, spoon, triangle, inverted triangle, and rectangle.
Example
Suppose the measurements are:
- Bust: 36 in
- Waist: 27 in
- High hip: 35 in
- Hip: 37 in
Waist-to-hip ratio = 27 ÷ 37 ≈ 0.73
Bust − hip = 36 − 37 = −1 in
Bust − waist = 36 − 27 = 9 in
Hip − waist = 37 − 27 = 10 in
Because the bust and hips are relatively close and the waist is noticeably smaller, the calculator may classify these proportions as an hourglass-style shape.
Important Notes
- Take all measurements using the same unit.
- Keep the measuring tape level and snug without compressing the body.
- Body-shape categories are approximate styling classifications, not medical or health assessments.
- Many people fall between two or more body-shape categories.
- Small measurement differences can change the closest-match result.
- Body shape does not determine clothing size because garment fit also depends on height, shoulders, torso length, fabric, cut, and brand sizing.
