Results
Use this Mixed Number Calculator to add, subtract, multiply, or divide mixed numbers and show the result as a simplified mixed number, improper fraction, and decimal.
Calculation Method
A mixed number is first converted to an improper fraction:
Improper numerator = whole number × denominator + numerator
The calculator then performs the selected fraction operation and simplifies the answer.
Example
Calculate:
2 1/3 + 1 3/4
Convert both numbers:
2 1/3 = 7/3
1 3/4 = 7/4
Then add:
7/3 + 7/4 = 49/12
49/12 = 4 1/12
Important Note
Denominators must not be zero. Repeating decimal results may be rounded while the fraction result remains exact.
