Heart Age Calculator

Estimate your heart age from common cardiovascular risk factors including blood pressure, cholesterol, smoking, diabetes, and BMI.

mmHg

Use this Heart Age Calculator to estimate how your cardiovascular risk profile compares with your actual age. It considers factors such as age, sex, systolic blood pressure, cholesterol, smoking, diabetes, blood-pressure treatment, and optional BMI.

Calculation Method

The calculator uses a simplified educational risk-scoring method. It combines the entered cardiovascular risk factors and compares the resulting risk profile with a lower-risk reference profile.

The comparison is expressed as an estimated heart age. A heart age higher than your actual age suggests that the entered risk factors are less favorable than the reference profile.

This calculator is not the official AHA PREVENT, ASCVD, QRISK, SCORE2, or Framingham risk calculator.

Example

Suppose a 50-year-old man enters:

  • Systolic blood pressure: 130 mmHg
  • Total cholesterol: 200 mg/dL
  • HDL cholesterol: 50 mg/dL
  • No blood-pressure medication
  • Non-smoker
  • No diabetes
  • BMI: 27

The calculator combines these values into its simplified risk score and compares the profile with a lower-risk reference. If the entered factors produce greater estimated cardiovascular risk, the calculated heart age may be higher than 50.

Understanding Heart Age

Heart age does not measure the physical or biological age of your heart. It is an age-style way of communicating cardiovascular risk.

Blood pressure, cholesterol, smoking, diabetes, family history, kidney health, medications, and other factors should be considered during a proper cardiovascular risk assessment.

Important Limitations

The result is for general risk awareness only and should not be used to start, stop, or change medication. People with known cardiovascular disease, previous heart attack or stroke, or complex medical conditions should rely on professional clinical assessment rather than this estimate.
