Percentage of Maximum Heart Rate Method
This method calculates each zone directly from maximum heart rate:
Zone heart rate = maximum heart rate × intensity percentage

- Zone 2: 60–70% — easy aerobic and endurance activity
- Zone 3: 70–80% — moderate-to-hard tempo activity

Karvonen Heart-Rate Reserve Method
The Karvonen method includes resting heart rate.
