Calculation Method
Cumulative percentage = first percentage × second percentage ÷ 100
If an original value is included:
Intermediate value = original value × first percentage ÷ 100
Final value = original value × (first percentage ÷ 100) × (second percentage ÷ 100)
Example
Find 25% of 40%:
25 × 40 ÷ 100 = 10%
If the original value is 500:
500 × 0.25 × 0.40 = 50
So 25% of 40% equals 10% of the original amount.
Important Note
When one percentage is applied to another, the percentages multiply rather than add. For example, 20% of 30% is 6%, not 50%.
