Long Division Calculator

Divide whole numbers using long division. Get the quotient, remainder, decimal answer, fraction form, and step-by-step work.

Use this Long Division Calculator to divide whole numbers and find the quotient, remainder, decimal result, and step-by-step division.

Calculation Method

For whole-number division:

Dividend = Divisor × Quotient + Remainder

The remainder is:

Remainder = Dividend − (Divisor × Quotient)

Example

Divide 875 by 6:

875 ÷ 6 = 145 remainder 5

Check the result:

6 × 145 + 5 = 875

As a decimal:

875 ÷ 6 ≈ 145.83

Important Note

The divisor cannot be zero because division by zero is undefined. Decimal answers may be rounded according to the selected number of decimal places.
