Calculation Method

F = m × a

Where:

  • F = net force
  • m = mass
  • a = acceleration

In SI units:

1 N = 1 kg·m/s²

Example

For an 80 kg object accelerating at 2.5 m/s²:

F = 80 × 2.5

F = 200 N

This is equal to 0.2 kN.

Important Note

The result represents net force, which is the combined effect of all forces acting on the object. If friction, drag, gravity, or several forces are present, an individual applied force may be different from the calculated net force.

A negative result indicates direction relative to the chosen sign convention.
