Important: The conversion factor depends on the substance. There is no single mmol/L-to-mg/dL factor that works for every analyte.

Calculation Method

mg/dL = mmol/L × molar mass (g/mol) ÷ 10

For the reverse conversion:

mmol/L = mg/dL × 10 ÷ molar mass

Example

Glucose has a molar mass of approximately 180.16 g/mol.

For glucose at 5.5 mmol/L:

mg/dL = 5.5 × 180.16 ÷ 10

mg/dL ≈ 99.1

Therefore, 5.5 mmol/L glucose ≈ 99 mg/dL.
