How to Crop an Image
- Upload a PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF image.
- Move and resize the crop box over the area you want to keep.
- Select an aspect ratio or enter exact X, Y, width and height values.
- Rotate or flip the image when necessary.
- Choose PNG, JPG or WebP and click Crop Image.
Choosing an Aspect Ratio and Format
Use 1:1 for square images, 16:9 for landscape graphics and thumbnails, or 9:16 for vertical content. Free mode lets you create any custom crop. PNG is suitable when transparency matters, while JPG usually produces a smaller file for photographs. WebP offers a practical balance between image quality and file size.
Privacy and Limitations
Cropping takes place inside your browser, and this tool does not upload the selected image to a processing server. Cropping removes pixels outside the selected area but cannot improve the detail or resolution already present in the source. Animated GIF files are exported as a still image from the displayed frame.

Can I crop an image to exact pixel dimensions?
Yes. Enter the X and Y position together with the required width and height, or adjust the crop box manually.
Does cropping reduce image quality?
Cropping does not add compression when PNG is selected. JPG and WebP output may use compression according to the chosen quality setting.
Can I preserve a transparent background?
Yes. Choose PNG or WebP output when the original image contains transparency. JPG does not support transparent pixels.
