Child Height Predictor
Use this Child Height Predictor to estimate possible adult height using either the Khamis–Roche method or a mid-parental height calculation.
Calculation Methods
Khamis–Roche: Uses the child’s sex, age, current height, current weight, and both parents’ heights in a published regression-based prediction method.
Mid-parental height for boys:
(Father’s height + Mother’s height + 13 cm) ÷ 2
Mid-parental height for girls:
(Father’s height + Mother’s height − 13 cm) ÷ 2
Example
If the father is 178 cm and the mother is 165 cm, the mid-parental estimate for a boy is:
(178 + 165 + 13) ÷ 2 = 178 cm
The estimated target height is approximately 178 cm.
Important Note
Adult height cannot be predicted exactly. Genetics, puberty timing, nutrition, illness, hormones, and growth pattern can affect final height. The original Khamis–Roche method was developed using healthy white American children, so accuracy may differ in other populations.
If a child has unusual growth, a major change in growth pattern, or concerns about puberty timing, use pediatric growth charts and seek professional assessment.
