CGPA to Percentage Calculator
Convert CGPA into percentage using a proportional scale, the common 10-point × 9.5 method, or a custom university formula.
Results
CGPA-to-percentage conversion rules vary by university, board, country, and grading policy. Use the official formula from your institution when submitting academic documents, applications, or eligibility forms.
Use this CGPA to Percentage Calculator to estimate a percentage from CGPA using proportional conversion, the 10-point × 9.5 method, or a custom institutional formula.
CGPA to Percentage Methods
Proportional conversion:
Percentage = (CGPA ÷ CGPA scale) × 100
This method treats the CGPA as a direct proportion of the selected 4.0, 5.0, or 10.0 scale.
10-point × 9.5 method:
Percentage = CGPA × 9.5
This method has been used by CBSE as an indicative conversion for its 10-point CGPA system.
Custom formula:
Percentage = (CGPA × multiplier) + offset
Use this option when your university or board provides its own official conversion formula.
Example
Suppose a student has a CGPA of 8.2 and uses the × 9.5 method.
Percentage = 8.2 × 9.5
Percentage = 77.9%
The estimated percentage is 77.9% under that conversion method.
Important Notes
- There is no single CGPA-to-percentage formula used by every school, university, or country.
- Do not automatically use the × 9.5 rule unless your institution accepts it.
- A proportional 4.0 or 5.0 scale conversion may not match an institution’s official grading policy.
- For admissions, scholarships, employment, or official documents, use the conversion formula issued by your university, board, or transcript authority.
